The Hawai`i County Council adopted the EnVision Downtown Hilo 2025: Community-Based Vision and Living Action Plan (EDH 2025) by Resolution 192-05 in November, 2005, after an extensive public involvement process.  EDH 2025 incorporates six Vision Focus Areas: Creating Economic Vitality; Preserving Our Environment; Strengthening and Sustaining Our Community; Enhancing Education, Culture, and the Arts; Promoting Health and Safety; and Managing Growth.  Each Focus Area forms an essential part of the community’s Overarching Vision for the year 2025.
 
As a diverse group of committed citizens, the EDH 2025 VisionKeepers focus on promoting implementation of our community’s Vision for Downtown Hilo.  We embrace and strive to build collaborative governance, where forming public-private partnerships becomes the norm for solving problems, working on creative solutions, and building a future that the community calls its own. Our primary role is to promote the EDH 2025 Plan and the people who work on it, to monitor the Plan by reporting progress to the community, celebrating our successes, and validating changes to ensure the Plan continues to reflect community voices as it is being implemented.
 
It is a memorable moment, when you can point to an action in the Plan and say, someone has started to work on this …. Our Vision is becoming a reality!  The Hilo Bay Watershed Advisory Group (HBWAG) is a vital Lead Partner in EDH 2025 and has committed to implementing actions that serve to protect and educate the community about our valuable water resources.

The VisionKeepers’ presentation represents a follow up to the 2nd EDH 2025 Town Meeting hosted on Sept. 30th, 2008, at the Palace Theater.  We invite you to attend this presentation in order to learn more about EDH 2025, how you can become involved, and hear the latest on HBWAG’s actions in the Plan.
