Cecile Walsh is an Aquatic Invasive Species Research Associate with the DLNR Division of Aquatic Resources. Cecile leads a team in conducting distributional mapping of alien algae along intertidal environments in selected areas across the main Hawaiian Islands.

This presentation will review current issues regarding invasive alien algae species in various areas around the main Hawaiian Islands. Cecile will cover current distributions, research, and education efforts and provide a look into the current distribution on the Eastside of Hawaii Island and review case studies on Oahu, Maui, and Molokai. There will be an emphasis on the relationship between water quality and alien algae around the state.
