Lucas Mead's research focused on surface water metabolism and how it changes in response to storms within Hilo Bay. Metabolism is a measure of the amount of primary production and respiration occurring within the surface water community. It is important as primary producers support the base of food webs in these communities.
Mr. Mead received his Master's degree from UH Hilo Tropical Conservation Biology and Environmental Sciences in December 2008.
Mokupapapa Discovery Center is located at 308 Kamehameha Avenue next to Cafe Pesto.
