Birnie talk well-attended

Ian Birnie, Hilo Harbormaster, drew over 100 people for his "Historic Hilo Bay" talk on May 8th.

Hilo Harbormaster Ian Birnie spoke on "Historic Hilo Bay" at the monthly Hilo Bay Watershed Advisory Group meeting on May 8th at the Mokupapapa Discovery Center.  Mr. Birnie showed many historic slides of old Hilo, including pictures of the construction of the breakwater between 1908 and 1930, and many images of the 1946 tsunami and its aftermath.  Over 100 people attended the meeting.
