"Year of the Reef" marked by beach clean-up
The Hilo Bay Watershed Advisory Group and the Nautilus Dive Shop co-sponsored a beach clean-up at Four-Mile Beach.
On April 20th, a beach clean-up organized by Carey Yost, marking the "Year of the Reef," was held at Four-Mile Beach east of Hilo. Co-sponsored by the Nautilus Dive Shop and the Hilo Bay Watershed Advisory Group, the annual event removed thousands of pieces of trash, including cigarette butts, bottles and cans, pull-tabs, styrofoam food trays, and many other types of garbage.
